Vinnytsia artist killed on Maidan

50-year-old Valery Brezdenyuk from Zhmerynka (Vinnytsa oblast) died last night on Maidan [Maidan Nezalezhnosti] after being shot in the back. His wife learned of his death from a stranger’s phone call and has gone to Kyiv to bring her husband’s body home.
Valery Brezdenyuk had also recently become active in the Udar party, however was best known for his unique artwork. He took first place in the local talent competition for his paintings on water, and in 2013 was a finalist for the nationwide “Ukraine’s Got Talent” competition. He was an imaginative and creative painter, who practiced paper marbling in the Turkish ebru style.
A local newspaper writes that he needed only clear water and paint to create a magical world.
He was also entrepreneur and owner of an Internet cafe in the center of Zhmerynka.
