Joseph Zisels, Chairman of the Association of Jewish Communities of Ukraine and Vice President of the World Jewish Congress believes that all the churches that have not supported the Ukrainian Administration will be repressed if the state of emergency is imposed. Here are his comments to Gordonua.com.
The churches that were not afraid to come to Maidan, together with their priests and parishioners, can face reprisals if the authorities introduce the state of emergency. In fact, it has already been introduced. All the churches except for Moscow Patriarchate will suffer, while the ones that provide any support to the opposition will be persecuted or even shut down, said Zisels.
He believes that the president and his allies will face inevitable international isolation if persecution of the churches starts in Ukraine.
If the government dares to start reprisals it will see global isolation and proper response of the Pope and heads of other churches, Zisels said.
Zisels added that the authorities had started a vigorous anti-Semitic campaign at the websites of its political satellites and Berkut special police units.
Some political parties close to the administration started publishing at their websites anti-Semitic articles some two or three weeks ago. These are websites of Viktor Medvedchuk, Natalia Vitrenko, Berkut, and others. The articles suggest that Maidan has been launched by Jews. Absurd as it is, the police who are confronting the protesters with clubs and shields believe it. They are told, Maidan is a Jewish invention so don’t feel any pity, beat them all, Zisels said.
The Chairman of the Association of Jewish Communities of Ukraine believes that Andriy Klyuev, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, could be the ideologist of the anti-Jewish campaign that has been modeled after Russian patterns.
I presume that Klyuev can be the campaign coordinator, said Zisels. The administration is copying Russia in many ways, however even former president Kuchma once wrote that Ukraine was not Russia, so Russian methods will not work here.

More than a thousand users of FB “Like” this page and more than a thousand discuss it. Information in “Berkut” is marked as “favorite” by many famous pro-government public figures, lawyers, politicians and journalists.
The representation of “Berkut” in the social network Facebook.com, is replete with materials about the Jewish roots and connections with Jews of opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko, Vitali Klitschko, Arseniy Yatsenyuk
The page is entered through a: “Berkut Ukraine – WARNING! the material on the connection of the Nazis and the Zionists is published for educational purposes only!”
The President of the “Ukrainian Independent Council of Jewish Women” and Editor-in-chief of the “Kiev Jewish” media project, Eleanor Groisman stated, in a letter to Yanukovych and Zakharchenko:
“We believe that the so-called “educational purposes” of the special forces “Berkut -Ukraine,” in the popular Facebook social network, is aimed at inciting people against the Jews as the perpetrators of all the troubles and are an incitement of ethnic hatred and an incitement to violence against Jews. All this threatens to turn into physical aggression against Jews and pogroms.”
